CIO, Co-Founder
Anuj Jain is the Chief Investment Officer and Co-Founder of Green Portfolio, where he leads the research team and chairs the investment committee. With over 15 years of hands-on equity investing experience and 5+ years in financial consultancy, Anuj is the architect behind the firm's investment processes, stock selection frameworks, and portfolio construction methodologies. Anuj is a member of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), bringing a strong foundation in financial analysis, valuation, and due diligence to his role. His career has been singularly focused on equity research and portfolio management, developing deep expertise in identifying under-researched opportunities across market capitalizations. As CIO, Anuj's responsibilities span the entire investment value chain: idea generation, fundamental analysis, portfolio construction, risk management, and performance monitoring. He works closely with the research team to ensure every investment decision is backed by rigorous quantitative and qualitative analysis. Anuj's investment approach is rooted in value with growth, identifying companies trading below intrinsic value but possessing strong growth trajectories, defensible moats, and capable management teams. He believes the best opportunities lie in under-researched, mid-to-small cap companies where information asymmetry creates pricing inefficiencies. His research process emphasizes bottom-up fundamental analysis through deep dives into business models, competitive positioning, and financial health. He conducts continuous scuttlebutt research by engaging with industry participants, suppliers, customers, and competitors to validate investment theses. His focus on risk-adjusted returns emphasizes downside protection through diversification, position sizing, and continuous monitoring, while backing conviction ideas with 3 to 5 year holding periods to allow structural tailwinds to play out. As head of research, Anuj has built a culture of intellectual rigor and collaborative decision-making. The investment committee operates on principles of consensus-driven conviction, where every stock addition or exit is debated, stress-tested, and aligned with portfolio objectives. Anuj believes that avoiding mistakes matters as much as finding winners. His risk management discipline ensures that even during portfolio drawdowns, capital preservation remains paramount, allowing the team to compound wealth through full market cycles. Anuj's approach to outperformance is simple: focus on process, not outcomes. He believes superior returns are a byproduct of disciplined research, patient capital, and avoiding behavioral biases, not market timing or macro forecasting.
